SUP or paddle a kayak!

From the Matinkylä paddle point, season pass holders have access to 15 kayaks and six SUP boats. With the SUP boats you can enjoy the local waters, or even stop by Big Hammer Island. The kayaks give you access to several kayaking routes and outdoor islands in the area.

Excellent kayaking routes in Espoo

Once you've bought a season pass, you can grab a kayak and you'll be spoilt for choice. Just off Matinkylä beach are the Big and Little Vasikkasaari, of which the Big Vasikkasaari is a popular outdoor island. Get ashore on the island ferry and tour this beautiful island on foot. Alternatively, you can paddle around the islands. This pleasant and relaxing canoeing route is about two kilometres long.

From Matinkylä, paddle west along the shore, first past Nuottaniemi and then through the narrow Suinonsalmi valley into Suvisaaristo. There are numerous small islets and islands, which are fun to paddle around. The sea is mostly calm, as the islands provide shelter from the waves of the open sea and shelter from the wind. There are numerous kayaking routes in the Summer Archipelago.

Heading east from Matinkylä, you will first encounter Haukilahti and then Westend, both of which have beaches well worth a visit. Beach yourself at the guest marina and admire the atmosphere of the beaches, have a coffee or two. After Westend, follow the beach to Keilaniemi, where the water sports centre Laguuni invites you to have a coffee and a rest while kayaking.
