The Vantaanjoki River is a calm paddling environment suitable for everyone
Located at the Tapaninvainio beach, Melontaranta is an excellent starting point for relaxed summer paddling trips. The river flows slowly toward Helsinki, so even paddling upstream is easy. Weather and wind conditions may vary, but paddling on the sheltered Vantaanjoki is pleasant even when the sea might start to feel challenging.
Rent a kayak and head out for a day trip, for example, to the Pikkukoski beach!
Touring kayaks – for faster paddling and extra maneuvrability
Touring kayaks are the top choice for people with previous experience in kayaking. Compared to the basic kayaks, the touring kayaks have more space, move faster and are more controllable. Since the Vantaanjoki river is usually a quite calm paddling environment, Melontaranta is a good spot for trying touring kayaks for a first time.
Overnight paddling trips are not possible at Vantaanjoki, but touring kayaks are a great choice if you come to exercise or to learn new paddling skills.
